Over the years I have come to the belief that HOPE can be a negative word. The word hope can be a crutch to avoid having to extend oneself.
I hope I get good grades; I hope I find a good job; I hope I can find the right partner to spend my life with. On the contrary, determination can go a long way towards bringing things and actions to a positive conclusion. Making things happen requires determination and emotional dedication. And it can be emotionally painful and draining.
On my office wall hangs this plaque:
“WHAT I AM IS GOD’S GIFT TO ME – WHAT I MAKE OF MYSELF IS MY GIFT TO GOD”
What that means to me is that I was not put here to mark time just waiting for the next glorious life. I was put here to accomplish things. To fulfill the maximum potential that was given to me. Yes, I will make mistakes. Yes, I will face disillusionment and pain. But the glory of victory more than makes up for any negatives. And as I have said many times — “You haven’t failed until you quit”. And therefore;
IF NOT NOW, WHEN?
