Is it important or merely urgent? Over the years I have heard this more than once: “First thing I do in the morning is make a list of things I need to do. Then I work hard all day long, and at the end of the day, I haven’t even touched the list.“
We are all faced with issues every day. Some are important, some are urgent, and some are both urgent and important. The problem is, most of us get caught up with the minor things that may be urgent but not important. It takes a great deal of discipline to say to yourself, “Is this item truly important? Yes, it’s urgent, but if I didn’t address it, would there be any serious consequences?” If the answer is ‘no’, then it isn’t worth your time.
I realize that what I am suggesting requires self-training and discipline, but it will add peace and order to your life.
